Gulf Development International and IAMC Health announce timeline for International Academic Medical Center project in the city of Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

(London, United Kingdom, 26/02/2020) Gulf Development International (GDI) and IAMC Health are pleased to announce a tentative high-level timeline for the development of the International Academic Medical Center (IAMC) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The IAMC project addresses several critical issues relating to Saudi healthcare delivery. The IAMC master plan is anchored by a 300-bed rehabilitation teaching hospital, a medical school and health sciences university, and a state-of-the-art simulation and research facility. The campus will also include an outpatient rehab facility, a 4-star hotel, residential and student housing, and commercial space. The joint venture is partnering with the top rehabilitation hospital in the U.S., one of the world’s largest health sciences universities, a world-class research and simulation company, and world-class designers and engineers to deliver the IAMC project.

Over the past 2 years, GDI has been conducting due diligence, recruiting top partners, completing market research, and master planning the IAMC project. The group is seeking final approval on the project in early Q1 2020. Upon final approval, GDI’s team is ready to begin the next phase of the project, which includes detailed design along with infrastructure analysis. Design and construction will take approximately 4 years to complete, with the anticipated first patient in early 2025.

During the design and construction phases of the project, concurrent programs for the operations of the rehabilitation hospital, health sciences university, and other facilities will be established and implemented. Curriculums for the health sciences program will also be implemented at this time, with satellite teaching programs beginning before the completion of the new facility. GDI expects the first patients to be seen at the rehabilitation hospital four years after project approval, with the initial graduates of the university completing their education around the same time.

“GDI has really put forth a lot of effort researching and proving the concept for the IAMC over the past two plus years,” said George Creel, Group CEO of GDI. “We have put together comprehensive research and a comprehensive plan for a project that serves the needs of Saudi citizens and will improve the quality of life in the Kingdom.”
